Signally unable to capture a mouse either dead or alive, I have nonetheless converted chez Bryan into a fortress of glue traps, snap traps and poisoned bait. These are used in combination and marked individually with flags and notices advising, Achtung Mausenfallen!!. As yet there are no trip wires, barbed wire, machine gun nests or land mines.

I do have a torch, though, and that operates as a searchlight.

As time progresses, yon garret is transforming into a veritable Berlin Wall for mice. This is the way it should be. Although there have been no captures or fatalities as yet, rodent activity has declined markedly and those appearances it/the make are clearly more desperate.

Only last night I was treated to a mouse escape from Colditz, as one of the buggers, jumped out of a kitchen cupboard, curled into a ball and landed safely on its back on a body warmer before scuttling to safety in the shadowy recesses of the kitchen.

If they are resorting to such tricks, I must slowly be penning them in.

Machine gun emplacements next! Hurrah!

I think you're going about it the wrong way.

I reckon with time and patience you could hone them into a finely tuned mouse army...

The truth is that these mice all worship him but alas! he is a vengeful God, "quick to anger and plentious in revenge".

Their many (litte black) offerings are intended to please him, their squeaks are hymns of praise. Their rustlings and scurryings are ritual dance. Their continuous copulation producing more worshippers to replace the obviously unworthy generations that are trapped, stamped-on or poisoned.

Their scripture is confusing. This is partly because it is writ upon the carpet in wee, but also because they have based it on the various writings to be found on the bedsit floor (aka "the majestic expanse of the Great Tabanacle within which we must poo") Thus their Gospel includes reference to a "Colonel Sanders", the Great Evil that is "Berkeley Redd" and the need to tithe to "William Hill" despite the poor rate of return.

These litte guys need a saviour.

Maybe it's time to call in some special forces.
