Tuesday quiz night.

Despite being cream-crackered, I went to the quiz night.

We lost. Again. I don't know what's happened this season; we're usually rather mediocre, but this season the team is rubbish. Mind you, that's not to say it isn't fun.

Old Rocket Ronnie Randall, our senior player (ie 70) mentioned that he'd seen a video in his local by a band called the Boogie Pimps. Jake and I are pressing to register the quiz team under that name next season. We have been the Jay H Seedy for two years and it's time for a change. The current name is an amalgam of the two teams that combined when neither could make up the numbers on a regular basis. So the Jimmy Hill Club (why? Lost in the mists of time, I expect...), aka JHC joined with the remnants of the Cyberdrinkers (formerly Shannon's - don't ask) to become the JHCD hence Jay H Seedy.

But if we have our way, and if it sounds good when sober, next season it's the Boogie Pimps.

It's started snowing. I walked back from Stockwell with Doc and between uis we must have seen at least a dozen flakes.

Some of it was snow.

Must iron shirt now.

Well, what a let down.

I poked my head out of the window last night at about 1.30 am to find that it was snowing properly. Not heavily but a steady amount. Despite the cold, it was melting and it wasn't coming down fast enough to build up over the damp surfaces.

Nonetheless, I retired hopeful. Imagine then, my disappointment when I awoke this morning. Sunny, clear blue skies. Cold, yes, but sunny. And on the ground was the odd sheen of ice. No snow.

I checked outside and it was the same.

It's still cold, but even the arctic wind we were promised hasn't really materialised. Ho hum.

I'm told that the story is a bit different a bit further north, but London is displaying a woeful lack of Wintry bedeckment.

You remember that I was bemoaning the lack of snow?

Well, at 3.15 I went into a meeting and it was sunny outside. Two hours later I came out and (obviously it was dark)there was a blizzard outside (an English Blizzard not a High Plains White-Out), but the ground was wet and nothing was sticking other than on the laurel bushes across the road.

In the 10 minutes it took me to nip to the little civil servants' room and make a fresh coffee, the road and pavements were covered in snow which shows every sign of staying.

I'd say we've had an inch in 20 minutes. That's going it some by British standards.

Wooo hoo!
