Some picayune and wingedy beastie has bitten my left hand just below the knuckle on the index finger. It itcheth most mightily and I am sore distressed by it. Anthisan works while it is daubed on the spot, but as soon as it washes of, or just rubs off, the itch returns. Right now, it is suitably daubed, and the itch recedeth...

Not a bad night, over all. I attended the book launch, and had a couple of pints. I have obtained one copy of each book, duly signed by the author in a crab-like hand that reads as though he has signed them 'Mrs Bradley'.* I understand that there is enough material to create a third volume, and if these sell, I expect he will launch into that project post-haste.

If anyone is even remotely interested, a synopsis of "Remembrance" is here, and "British War Memorials" is here.

Remembrance British War Memorials

More generally, perspiring aspiring authors out there may like to know that Authors Online offer a publishing service which may or may not be of interest. I confess that I haven't read the terms and conditions, but then I am not currently looking to be published.

*It actually says M Quinlan, but....

If anyone has a desperate need to contact me out of office hours, it’s probably best not to rely on email for the time being – use my mobile instead. The Athenaeum Club’s intarweb access died again this morning while I was actually checking said email. Yet another call has been logged to technical support, and I think they’ve pretty much given up and blamed it on BT. Downtime is happening more frequently and for longer periods. It is to weep.

Oh well, come the revolution and all that.

Other than repeating myself over this gripe, I seem to have run out of things to say. Maybe later then, LJ land.

Oh, by the way. In answer to the unspoken question, several days late and just to make up space: On the side of the bomb Captain Jack was sitting on. Stencilled in German: Schlechte Wolf

Endless Wednesday

It’s been an odd day, so far. Everything seems to be on the brink of happening, but that final pebble holding back the avalanche just won’t come loose. It’s very frustrating, and I am bored out of my gourd filling time with random, routine little tasks. Such is the level of excitement, that I am having to struggle actively to stay awake.

Thank God it’s a short week; if I’d had to put up with this on Monday and Tuesday I’d have gone spare by now.

I think I shall make my excuses in about three-quarters of an hour and go home.

I bet the intarweb connection is still down.
