Damn you, Karma Pixies!
Tuesday, February 5th, 2008 12:47 pmIt’s typical isn’t it?
Last week my boss chided me gently about my timekeeping – I always get in late and leave late to avoid the rush hour at both ends of the day. During January, for one reason or another, I slipped into the pattern of getting in around 10.15am – even on the days when I would otherwise have been in by 10.00, the tube system conspired against me and I was late. By sheer good luck the two never combined, though they easily could have done, and so for a month I got to the office in the ten minute period 10.10 to 10.20.
Anyway, not having a leg to stand on since core hours start at 10am and as it’s frankly not unreasonable to get in by then, I made an effort this morning. I got to Victoria by 09.50, waltzed through Sainsbury’s to buy my milk, newspaper, a sandwich and some bananas and got to my desk on the stroke of ten with an extravagant flourish.
My boss is off sick today, so my efforts have gone unnoticed and the Karma Pixies are laughing hard enough to puke.
