Leap Year

I don’t want to be in the office today and I seem to be drawing flak from all directions. It’s nothing personal and nothing that wouldn’t come my way anyway, but I don’t feel particularly well disposed to dealing with it.

Today is 29 February. The one day in every four years that the government effectively gets my time for free. If the 24 hours was made up incrementally in hourly adjustments, they would all happen on weekends¹, but no, it just gets generated as a whole day and that means an extra day’s work for no additional pay.

Employers like to get their money’s worth from their employees. Today, I intend to see that they get it.
