Silence

Five minutes or so to the 2 minutes' silence.

I bet some bugger phones up and then grumbles because the phone doesn't get answered.

Edited to add: In fact no, no phone calls at all. Though some prat across the office somewhere continued typing for a while until they were drowned out by silent disapproval.

Claim to fame

It is a long time since I have been able to add to my relatively few claims to fame and without exception they are all examples of meeting a CELEB at a signing or colliding with them in the street, or something equally poor. In fact, I have to go back a fair number of years since my last celebrity sighting. Since the 80s, when I clearly haunted the right streets, they have become few and far between.

Today, however, I can polish off another space on the mental mantelpiece and add another faded celebrity. Well dressed and dapper, obviously as a result of wise investments made in his few years of fame (and according to Wikipedia, the fact that he still works in the Biz and is CEO of British Music Rights), I shared a tube carriage with ex-Undertone Feargal Sharkey.

The years have been good to the bloke and he looks better now than he did at the height of his fame:

Could the man look more Irish?

The Undertones' Teenage Kicks was, by all accounts, the late John Peel's favourite song.

Just in case you weren't already aware, JJ Abrams, creator of Lost and Alias has been working on the next Star Trek movie - a prequel to the original TV series. The release date has been delayed until May 2009, but today the BBC tell us that Paramount have released some footage and stills from the movie:

Some are more ovious than others

Spock's first nerve pinch>

I shall have to wait until I get home to see if there's any footage on the Star Trek site.

Simon Pegg somehow manages to look like Scotty without er.. looking like Scotty...

How does that work?
