I’ve been keeping this journal now since January 2003 and over that period I have built up a cadre of chums from all over the place together with a small band of hangers-on who never speak or identify themselves and therefore receive the beneficence of a mutual friending
1.
Most of the people I have on my friends list are from the UK, with another sprinkle from the US and Canada, with the occasional visitor from mainland Europe. My LJ is also an occasional rest stop for Russians with nothing more constructive on their minds than using the place as a launch pad for denial of service attacks on poor saps in Georgia who think it unfair that the world’s largest country should occasionally test its army out on them. Still, that’s Mother Russia for you, we shouldn’t expect too much from a country where vodka, cabbages and firing squads are the epitome of cultural expression.
Over the past three years or so, since I have had a
Clustrmap pinned to the information page, I have seen the red spots appear over the UK and North America, then spread out into Europe and occasionally further afield – India, Japan, Australia and New Zealand on occasion, and a couple of times South Africa. I think in three years I have had oh, maybe a half dozen hits from the entire southern hemisphere. Until recently, though, never a single visit from the entire South American continent. Nary a one; zilch.
But now, I have done it! I have had a solitary visit from some hombre in Chile – probably looking for a Cadillac dealership – and from another person in Venezuela – probably looking for an oil import dealership attached to a Cadillac distribution node. What with recent visits from Senegal, Korea and Indonesia I am beginning to feel inclusively international, though the
caddyman penetration south of the Tropic of Capricorn is still less than stellar.
2Nonetheless, slowly or otherwise, my bid for world domination continues! Hahaaaa.
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin.Sits down in a quiet corner with cold compress on head…
1Full of himself this morning, isn’t he? -Editor2The hit from Indonesia is annoyingly close to the Equator, so I’m not sure which hemisphere the particular the hit was from.
