Well I never
Thursday, October 8th, 2009 12:06 pmMuch to my (happy) surprise, I am working from home today.
I had phoned the office to let them know that I would be late getting in as I was awaiting delivery of the book as grumbled about endlessly yesterday. I also asked them to email me some stuff to be getting on with as I was feeling a bit of a fraud for being late on account of something as numpty as a delivery.
Anyway, the book arrived rather earlier than I thought it would - about 10.20, so I thought that I'd finish my coffee and head on in. It was about then that I received an email with a bunch of papers telling me that as no-one was owning up to a meeting this afternoon, that I know is in the diary, I might as well work from home. It will actually be helpful since I need to write a commentary on a revised determination - we haven't made any changes for a number of years, so dispensed with that formality a while ago, but now we've levered ina bunch of new things that need a friendly, plain English explanation. So working from home is actually beneficial, not to mention dead handy.
I have left the book downstairs while I do the work, otherwise I could not say that it wouldn't distract me. It looks suitably interesting and rather large: Defence of the Realm: THe Authorized History of MI5.

I daresay there will be much reading and revelation in the next few days.
