See how the blogosphere feeds off itself!

I know that there are people out there on my f-list, who keep tabs on these things, so I am making it easy for them, courtesy [livejournal.com profile] drjohnsilence, who pointed me at this:

Yes, it's Cthulu Cake. Follow the links through to the Clever Cake Studio. To quote one of The Retroist's commenters, "It tastes like unspeakable evil, and also cordial cherries."

No Sir, not rednecks.

A North Carolina church plans to burn what it considers satanic books on Halloween and that includes certain versions of the Bible.

Before I wander off, I should say 'hello' to [livejournal.com profile] belle_fille1982, who has pulled up a pew at the back of this very journal.

Hello, Tracy.

So entropy is taking hold of everything around here and by that I mean absolutely everything and it’s not even Friday 13th.

Our email system, which has been intermittent for over a week and ropy for a couple of months before that, packed in entirely just moments after office services announced that they had fixed it. “Please continue to work on shared drives” they advised. At that point all I had access to was a floppy drive (no floppies) and the CD ROM (no CDs). I have a flash memory stick, but that’s mine; the office does not see fit to spend money on them. So, no email, no shared drives, no local drives and then, no intranet or internet.

The building being made of steel and glass means that reception on my iPhone is only just better than intermittent for anything more technical than a text message, so entertaining myself in the interim.

It’s hard to see how anything is being saved when nothing works around here.

Now I have to wander off down Victoria Street, because FedEx have managed to send my package to the wrong building and their courier only works mornings so can’t be sent to fetch it back and redeliver. Sometimes, living and working in a major capital city of one of the world’s top eight economies gets you no further than if you fancied a Starbuck’s on the summit of Everest.

I am working under a fekking curse.

Well, I now have my package and FedEx have a piece of my mind, which many would state I could ill afford to lose.

For reasons that no-one can adequately explain, they ignored the address on the package and delivered it elsewhere. Initially they led me to believe that it had gone to a central delivery point for our Department, and I know that stuff used to end up in Ashdown House. So I went there, despite the last of us quit the building three weeks ago. Anyway, it wasn’t there.

It was at this point that Fed Ex announced their master stroke. They had delivered to number 80 Victoria Street. Now Ashdown House is number 123 and our building is on Bressenden Place , not Victoria Street.

It turns out that number 80 Victoria Street is more of a concept than a location. Number 80 Victoria Street is on Buckingham Palace Road…

In the meantime, I get back to the office to find that the system is back up and running. I typed out an email to [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle and hit send just as the message popped up on my screen that the system was down again, though I still have internets.

As I am typing this, we have just been told that all power to IT will be turned off at 4.30 for maintenance.

I am operating under a fekking curse…
