caddyman: (Dancing Santa)
Today is my last day in the office until 4th (maybe 5th) January.

I think I may try to leave early, just to add to the jollity. Last night I banished [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle upstairs and wrapped her pressies, which are now under the tree. There's nothing like a few pressies under a tree to make it look properly festive. A tip, though, and a warning: there is a fancy goldy wrapping paper that is not actually paper. I don't know what it is, but it's bloody awful to wrap with. Looks real purty, though!

I am hoping that now everything has thawed around here that the journey to and from work will be back to normal for my last working day of the year.

I see from the news that there’s been an earthquake in Cumbria. Something like 3.6 on the Richter scale. My limited understanding of these things suggests that granny’s dentures may have rattled in their bedside glass, a couple of Christmas cards might have fallen from the mantle and some dust was dislodged from the top of the wardrobe.

Insurance companies are thought to be gearing themselves up for a quiet Christmas.

In other news, the zebra crossing on Abbey Road in St John’s Wood, immortalised on The Beatles’ 1969 album cover has been given grade II listed status. This honour is not something that should be just trampled on… er…
