Ashes

I thought I ought to record, largely for my own benefit, the fact that England trounced Australia to retain the Ashes for the first time in 24 years.

I know that the team technically did so in the fourth Test in Melbourne, but to win the fifth and final match by an innings and 83 runs in Sydney is rather special.

I am among the first to grumble when it all goes wrong, so here is me recording the fact it all went horribly right!

The scorecard.

I wish ticket sellers would check what their computer systems are doing sometimes.

Having bought tickets from the Mean Fiddler before – most recently to see Focus, I am unsurprisingly on their emailing list. That’s okay; it is a good way of finding out if there’s anyone around that I fancy seeing.

Unfortunately they don’t always think things through. I was momentarily excited when I received an email telling me that British Sea Power are playing the Camden Barfly, next Wednesday, 12th January. I was a little less impressed to find out from the same email that the event is sold out.

At least they didn’t kill a tree to tell me.

Until I read [livejournal.com profile] telemeister's entry, I had somehow missed the fact that today is [livejournal.com profile] fencingsculptor's birthday, despite having been told that it was every year since I've known him.

So anyway, Happy Birthday, Paul.

I think my long hoped for superpowers are finally developing.

The past few days I have been getting static shocks off just about anything I touch in the office. It can only be a matter of time before an entire energy shield manifests. Maybe I shall be able to hurl power bolts at will...

On the downside, I don't do spandex...
