Have purchased the two extra comic storage boxes, and returned home.

I have packed two very large boxes of CDs which are just on the edge of carryability. I need another box about the same size, or slightly larger for those that are left. In so packing, I discover that the four boxes of comics are in fact six, and since then I have discovered another two. Eight boxes in total. Suddenly the two purpose sized collectors boxes look one too few.

Dear God, this stuff is beginning to appear from other dimensions, I'm sure of it. This garret just isn't big enough for the amount of stuff in it. I still have three cupboards that I haven't ventured near. What is going to come out of them?

The amount of stuff I have bagged for throwing away is unbelievable, too. But the place is as cluttered as ever. It is spontaneously generating, I tell you. Generating. Where is it all coming from?

Tonight is quiz night. I will need a few pints of ale. This is ridiculous.

There is no hope. You *will* be assimilated by junk. It reproduces by parturition when you are asleep, in the bathroom, at work, or otherwise not watching.

The Underpant Gnomes and the Sock Faeries do what they can, but their skills are highly specialised and they are simply not evolved to deal with modern (nod to Philip K) kibble.

The only solution is to become Swedish, at which point your life will miraculously become clean, uncluttered, and decorated with blondewood sutfaces. Good luck with that one.

I've heard Buddhism may work also, though for real results you'd need to move to Tibet and that's maybe not such a good idea these days.

I have a couple of Swedish friends; I may see if their IKEA-foo can be adapted to my circumstances.

Barring that, I am considering contacting Bernard over at the British Rocket Group. The way the mass is expanding with no concomitant energy drain is clearly extra-terrestrial in nature, and more his bailiwick than mine.

Our house got less cluttered when [livejournal.com profile] forbinproject moved in, and then utterly mysteriously, it got even less cluttered when [livejournal.com profile] jimfer moved in.

I think I know where the clutter magically went. I wonder if this power is akin to hangover transference?

I sympathise - recently I started a blitz on my flat - to date I have removed loads of binbags-worth which seem to have only minimal affect on th clutter level. I am considering looking at the stuff™ I've got and possibly inflicting some of it on eBay ...

It is the plan to ebay some of the stuff after the move. Unfortunately that leaves me with the hassle of actually moving the stuff...

But at leat moving does show up precisely what gets used and what doesn't...

The only really viable way I've found of keeping control of stuff and clutter is to move house on an alarmingly regular basis. This concentrates both the mind and the possessions. However it also costs a huge amount in time, energy, enthusiasm for continued existence and, not incidentally, money.

It's my books that do the breeding. Every time I go into the library there's another shelf of them, lying there and looking innocent.

I was going to say that I'd identified a problem with your plan, but I think you've already done so.

And you're right. Even with the amount of books I'm shedding, there is a horrifying amount left; the do breed, don't they?

But hang on there old chap....
Haven't you always wanted to live in the TARDIS ?!

You have my sympathies on the book front. Heaven knows I have enough book shelves - but even with lots of space, the last four months have seen nomadic piles of books ordered by genre appear and start moving round the house !

Maybe it is a supernatural event....maybe your room is haunted, maybe that was the true cause of the great video earthquake of '97.

Maybe instead of ectoplasm - your poltergeist is spewing out books and comics and role playing games.

Trust me, Jimf - you wouldn't be able to keep up with it. It is relentless.
