Bloody Parcel Farce.
Having ordered a load of books from Amazon, you'd think it would be simplicity itself to have them delivered, wouldn't you? I mean it is the digital age and all, and I have a tracking number.
They tried to deliver the parcel on Thursday and picked a time when no-one was in. No matter, there is an automatic attempt at redelivery the next day. Except they picked the one time in the day when
ellefurtle had nipped out for lunch. Gamely she arranged redelivery to the local post office, directly opposite the Athenaeum Club, via the website and then by phone and all seemed well.
Except that they haven't delivered and the website shows that the parcel is still being held at the delivery centre in Acton.
I spent half an hour on hold in a queue, their automated telephone system having packed up and was eventually transferred (to save further delay, it said) to a separate call centre which told me that I should have called before 5.30pm and hung up.
Bastards.

Date: 2006-09-25 07:30 pm (UTC)At least, in the UK if there's no one to take delivery, the bod takes the item away. Here the UPS monkey just plonks it on the doorstep and runs away without knocking.

Date: 2006-09-25 10:40 pm (UTC)Currently I am waiting (since Sept 12th) for confirmation that an ebay cash payment has been received in Germany......
I must admit this is why I tend to have inbound stuff delivered to work....it's much easier....
Of course now that there is no one delivering to my desk in my office I'm not sure how easy that will be.....

Date: 2006-09-26 08:32 am (UTC)1) I ordered two books back in late June for a chum's burpdye, one book (which was "in stock") in now expected not to ship until at least the middle of October.
2) I decided to order the Native Tongue trilogy after rading about it on
Grr.
Why list books as "in stock" when they blatantly aren't. I hate you Amamzon!
