Bloody Parcel Farce.

Having ordered a load of books from Amazon, you'd think it would be simplicity itself to have them delivered, wouldn't you? I mean it is the digital age and all, and I have a tracking number.

They tried to deliver the parcel on Thursday and picked a time when no-one was in. No matter, there is an automatic attempt at redelivery the next day. Except they picked the one time in the day when [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle had nipped out for lunch. Gamely she arranged redelivery to the local post office, directly opposite the Athenaeum Club, via the website and then by phone and all seemed well.

Except that they haven't delivered and the website shows that the parcel is still being held at the delivery centre in Acton.

I spent half an hour on hold in a queue, their automated telephone system having packed up and was eventually transferred (to save further delay, it said) to a separate call centre which told me that I should have called before 5.30pm and hung up.

Bastards.

Amazon seem to be pooh for me at the moment.

1) I ordered two books back in late June for a chum's burpdye, one book (which was "in stock") in now expected not to ship until at least the middle of October.

2) I decided to order the Native Tongue trilogy after rading about it on [livejournal.com profile] jfs' and [livejournal.com profile] westernind's LJs. Yesterday they delivered books 2 & 3, as book 1 (which was "in stock") won't ship for at least another two weeks.

Grr.

Why list books as "in stock" when they blatantly aren't. I hate you Amamzon!
