Okay, that's a relief. Mr Wren and I, and the person from whose journal I nicked this, all got pretty much the same results. I thought it was rigged. It probably is, but not in that way.

Well,I adjusted my answers to allow for the fact that I am neither American nor live in America, so I assumed that references to the US read as UK.

I'm not surprised by the result. I hate state interference and most proscriptive legislation etc. Most of it is bugger all to do with the Govt and they should keep their noses out and let people get on with it.

Did you know for instance that in this so-called free country (Hah!) you can be arrested for taking photographs in Parliament Square? If you're anything darker than a stereotypical Bjorn Bjornsson, they may even confiscate your camera and detain you for questioning, which itself can now be for up to 42 days without charges being brought.

All on the suspicion of any copper in a bad mood who merely has to say that he thought you look shuifty and he had grounds to assume you were about to detonate a nuke.

Nope, although someone has been arrested for taking photos in Parliament Square, they were released, and the official advice to police is that photography is a perfectly acceptable hobby and they shouldn't arrest people photographing landmarks or indeed any other public place. You may snap in safety.

The 42 days without charge is horrendous and it is being administered in a racist way, and will in my view continue to be until it is abolished.

Once again it's not really surprising to discover I am best described as a Socialist (68% socially permissive, 10% economically permissive.)

Apparently I am a Social Liberal (61% permissive) and an Economic Liberal (23% permissive) and am best described as a Democrat.

I allegedly exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness. loc: (43, -100) modscore: (14, 37)

This looks like it's a reinvention (or possibly a blatant nicking) of the Political Compass, which quite a few of my f-list have done on a few occasions.

That site has a number of different versions for different political environments. Australia, NZ and Germany all feature for example, as well US and UK at different times.

Oooh, interesting. I found it hard to answer the question about whether people who honestly believe that the Holocaust didn't happen should be allowed to say so. Freedom of speech on the one hand and a pretty clear distinction between right and wrong on the other.

Apparently I'm a socialist, which doesn't surprise me either.

As am I. We can form a club with the best intentions and, within a few years, end up hopelessly oppressing our impoverished subjects people while we live like fat cats.

I see Libertarianism as something more structured than anarchy - there has to be some rules, some law.

It depends what people choose to do with the reduced level of control and restriction, not the concept itself that means that it can be exploited or lead to exploitation.

Similarly, anarchy can be a state whereby law, control and government is unnecessary because everyone co-operates freely and willingly, or it can be a state of complete chaos, with all that entails.
