Permanent Accounts

One or two people on my friends list have purchased permanent accounts on LJ. I was thinking about it too.
Is there any real point? What do people who have them think?
It seems a bit steep at $175, even with $25 going to charity. A paid account is $19.95 a year, so it would take around eight and three-quarter years to pay for itself. Am I likely to be still using LJ in 2017? It will be 6 years in January since I started keeping a journal…

Date: 2008-12-03 04:50 pm (UTC)Since LJ became a corporate entity I've been more reluctant to give them any more money. I had a near permanent paid account until they sold to 6apart.
