Now here's a thing - probably not news to some, but it's news to me. If anyone had announced it anywhere other than the dark recesses of the internet, I'd missed it.

I had a root around various nooks and crannies of the web last night, to see if there were any hints about the future of Torchwood after the broadcast of Children of Earth, which I enjoyed very much, by the way. Kill your babies indeed. Writers will understand that comment if no one else does. Anyway, what with televised events being what they were, I thought I'd have a quick hunt for clues. Needless to say, a couple hours after the conclusion of season three is hardly the time for news about any potential season four.

I did, however, spot this rather interesting item to do with (I believe) the Dr Who Christmas Special. The next up is The Water of Mars or something similar and is due for airing, I believe, around 14 November. After that there is the Christmas Special and what looks like being a New Year's Day Special at the end of which the Tennant Doctor will regenerate into the Smith Doctor. These last two episodes do not seem to have been named as yet, but seem to be linked, perhaps into a single two-and-a-half hour story.

The interesting bit, or at least potentially interesting bit, is .

It seems that in both the Christmas and New Year Specials, Timothy Dalton will be appearing as an unnamed Time Lord. In some places he is referred to as the Lord Chancellor of the Time Lords. (Whatever happened to Chancellor Flavia?). Whatever, here is an interesting behind the scenes vidcap from filming. Three Time Lords together, eh? And Timothy Dalton in Time Lord regalia somewhat reminiscent of Omega...

Looks interesting!

Not sure he's going to be a Time Lord, word is he's some sort of 'Judge'... sounds like Trial of a Timelord all over again. where's the Valeyard?

The Valeyard was defeated, and thus no longer existed. (Note tense).

Also, Time War.

hmm.. but doesn't the potential for the Valeyard exist as long as the Dr exists?
But yes, Time war. Wiped out the Time Lords. just like it wiped out the Daleks.
I bet they all went and hid in the antimatter universe with Omega.

Gentlemen, gentlemen. While the Doctor sealed the Medusa Cascade at the end of the Time War, Gallifrey and its system was encapsulated in a Time Bubble, effectively sealing it from outside interference and making the Doctor the last Time Lord in the continuum (cowardly hidden Master notwithstanding). At some point, the Time Lords emerge from the Time Bubble, once everyone is convinced they are dead. They realised that a Time War was both unwinnable and unloseable, but could be stopped simply by closing a temporal loop.

sounds good to me. Probably involves Running About, Shouting and Glowing stuff, as all plot should.

Looks like Prince Barin finally inherited Emperor Ming's kingdom wardrobe.
