Further ramblings of a self-made pauper

It appears to be just as well that we front-loaded this week with the few activities we had planned for our holiday. Today is rather chilly with a north wind blowing and there is rain in the air. This could, I suppose, be the beginning of the jolly holiday cold-snap that the Met are forecasting. Easter weekend, too. What a coincidence.

I have never really understood (nor much cared to) why Easter waltzes up and down the calendar and why it can't be fixed like other holidays. It has always struck me as very odd that a Christian holiday should be so dependent upon phases of the moon. Still, logic is generally found wanting in matters of superstition, so I don't propose to lose any sleep over it; I never have before.

It looks as though the train routes from Chelmsford are all being dug up and ruined over the Easter weekend, which means that the Furtle Clan may have to avail themselves of either the bus replacement service, or drive to London, which means that they would most likely come to The Athenaeum Club and we would go somewhere local for a meal and a pint or two. So: tidy the place like it's never been tidied before and hide DT in a cupboard with a bone and a bowl of water.

I still haven't packed.

Ho hum.

Never mind, I have decided that I can get all I need into my rucksack. Shreddies, socks and teeshirts for one week, and maybe a spare pair of kegs. I can wear the sweater to save space.

A couple of books, the chargers for my walkman and phone and all is well. I have not decided whether or not to take my lappie or not; I suspect I shan't. Previous experience tells me that I shall get very little use from it and the last ever piece of NWO I need to write can comfortably be done when I come back. All the deadline stuff is complete.

I may have time to update tonight from my sister's PC, or I may not. After that, I shall be a largely digital free world for a week, though I shall have my phone with me, so if you are desperate for a chat I shall be contactable.

Other than that, have a great Easter.

And don't forget that the new series of Dr Who Stars on Saturday at 7.15pm. /geek.
