For the first time in many, many moons, I have brought my own lunch in. It is a modified Greek Salad prepared by [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle (ie she was making her own and took the opportunity to make a whole heap so I could have some, too). I say modified because it has pasta and sweet corn in it as well as the more usual gubbins. I shall be scarfing this back rather daintily with my spare teaspoon as I forgot to bring a fork in with me.

So, Greek salad, an apple and a banana – with the option of snacking on more banana and apple later if I get peckish in the pee-em; how healthy is that?

So far I haven’t been overly strict with myself, though sarnie consumption is at an all-time low, having been replaced by breakfast cereal (Rice Krispies) and fruit. With the exception of a bag of ‘Planets’ the other night and au unexpected windfall of four or five posh choccies last night, chocolate consumption has fallen away to nothing.

Surprisingly I am finding the eating of apples and bananas to be fine. No problem at all. I am not, by nature, a great consumer of fruit. It’s OK, but one apple every five years or so is enough. A pear every decade and other fruit in cocktails. I don’t think that I am ready yet, to expand my menu past a Granny Smith or two; French Golden Delicious are neither golden nor delicious and most red apples are just compressed pellets of cotton wool.

Getting there, though.

A week and a half in, with, as I say, not being too strict, and my jacket hangs just a little looser. I doubt that it’s noticeable to anyone but me, but it’s there anyway. It will clearly take a couple or three months before there is much to notice, but with luck…
